St Luke’s at Torquay hosted a second U3A Organ Recital by Tom Healey on Tuesday 11 June. Tom Healey, who is a Surf Coast resident, and is, amongst many other musical undertakings, the organist at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Geelong and is the director of the Vox Angelica Geelong Chamber Choir. Tom selected a program of music that was suited to St Luke’s small mechanical action organ. The program included works by Albinoni, JS Bach, WA Mozart, Louis Vierne, Nadia Boulanger and GF Handel. Tom introduced each piece of music with interesting and humorous anecdotes. The recital was well attended by U3A members, St Luke’s parishioners, guests and visitors. Everyone enjoyed Tom’s musicianship and excellent organ playing. The Surf Coast community would like to thank Tom for providing us with an inspirational afternoon of music.
